Reduction of the fine fraction the process of ferrochrome casting
TNC Kazchrome JSC (ERG) is the world's largest ferrochrome producer. Smelting high-carbon ferrochrome is produced in ore-thermal furnaces of alternative (AC) and direct (DC) current. When crushing and fractionating the metal smelted in AC furnaces, about 28% of non-commercial fine fraction (-5mm) is produced; in DC furnaces up to 50% of non-commercial fine fraction (-5mm) and aspiration fines (up to 1% of the smelted high-carbon ferrochrome). An economically viable solution is being sought to reduce the volume of fines formation to ~5 %.
